Annual community events give residents several opportunities throughout the year to gather and celebrate their local culture. These celebrations are held regularly by towns and civic groups throughout Coweta County. Examples include the Old Town Sharpsburg Festivals in the spring and fall, an Independence Day barbecue, the Powers’ Crossroads Country Fair and Arts Festival, and the Senoia Progressive Dinner and home tour.

Senoia is a historic town located about seven miles southeast of Sharpsburg. Senoia is known primarily for its architecture, but the community’s lush parks, walking paths and beautiful bed and breakfasts are worth exploring as well. Riverwood Studios, a film production facility based in Senoia, uses the town and nearby open spaces as film locations for movies and television.

Golf is a big part of the lifestyle in Sharpsburg, as it is throughout the Atlanta Metro. Meeting this demand is the network of Canongate Golf Clubs, which gives golfers many course options. With one membership, Canongate golfers have access to 18 different private facilities, featuring a variety of golf, tennis and swimming experiences. Of the 30 or so golf courses within 30 miles of Sharpsburg, more than half are in the Canongate network. The network is anchored by the original Canongate golf property, which opened in Sharpsburg in 1965. Other Canongate clubs in the area include Healy Point Country Club in Macon and Summergrove in Newnan.

The Sharpsburg climate is characterized by moderate winters, mild summers and year-round rainfall. Roughly 52 inches of rain falls throughout the year with January, February and March being the wettest months on average. Temperatures range from the low 30s in December and January to the high 80s in July and August.
